When I first met Chai she was laying in the back of her kennel curled up like a little brown fox just watching, even when out of her kennel she would find the nearest “cave” that she could hide and just watch what was going on.
Even from that first very shy meeting I knew she was going to be my dog, I pretty much just told my husband that she was ours now and that was that.
Since adopting Chai her personality has come out a lot!
I like to call her the thief princess because she loves to steal anything she can grab and hide it in her kennel for later, she had taken things from socks to rags and even tried to steal a lighter once.
Chai also has this amazing superpower where she gets along with every dog I bring home there is just something about her that helps the foster dogs I bring home feel safe. She’s not the snuggles dog in the world and still has a long way to go to get use to being a house dog but I’m excited to be with her on that journey!
Pickles has been a blessing to me in so many ways.
During my search for a furry friend, I happened by one of Shie’s Happy Tails events and found Pickles. This little dog had such soulful brown eyes and was so sweet and gentle I fell in love. I went home and thought about this adorable Oki mix and couldn’t stop thinking about her. I frantically texted Shie’s a couple weeks later and was relieved to find she was still available. Since adopting her, Pickles has brought me so much joy and love. She has absolutely become my best friend. Pickles is becoming more confident and happy each day. One of our favorite activities together is going out to breakfast on Sundays and trying out new restaurants (she always gets an order of scrambled eggs and sometimes we share a slice of bacon). She also introduced me to my boyfriend. I began working with a dog behaviorist in the US to help me long distance with Pickles’ anxiety and 4 months later I have a more relaxed dog and a fantastic relationship. I say that I rescued Pickles, but really it is she that has rescued me! I am so grateful to Shie’s Happy Tails for bringing Pickles and me together and highly recommend them to anyone searching for their next furry companion.
